Access to fostering course

Are you curious about becoming a foster carer, but need support with the process?

Join our new, accredited Access to Fostering course

Lots of people are interested in becoming a foster carer but can be unsure if they have the necessary skills. We are excited to offer this brand new free course to anyone who would like to explore if fostering is right for them. Weekly training is offered by friendly and supportive people who are there to encourage and inspire. At the end, participants will have the opportunity to have work experience to further develop your skills in caring for children and working with others.


The course will help you

• Understand the role of the foster carer including learning about child development and how to keep children safe

• Develop the skills needed to become a foster carer

• Build confidence in speaking and listening

 

Course structure

• 11 group sessions with other fostering applicants

• An expenses-paid work placement in a family or youth centre

• A move to ESOL and IT courses if needed
